About Us

We are a New Zealand health technology startup developing an AI-powered clinical analysis and reporting platform for use within hospital workflows. We aim to help clinicians interpret complex medical data and produce diagnostic reports supported by clear, traceable evidence. You will work directly with researchers, engineers and clinical collaborators to translate advanced methods into practical healthcare software.

About the Role

You will build software systems that support hospital workflows and assist in diagnosis and reporting. You will own the clinician experience across UI/UX, frontend implementation, application services and integration. You will work closely with the Technical Lead, AI Systems Engineer, algorithm researchers and clinical collaborators. This is a broad engineering role for someone who follows a feature from understanding the user through to deployment and ongoing operation. Both engineers will share responsibility for the complete product.

The role will involve:

  • Design and build full-stack software applications that support hospital workflows and clinical decision-making.

  • Lead UI/UX development with clinical users, translating complex requirements into clear, accessible user experiences.

  • Take ownership of features from understanding user needs and prototyping through to production deployment and ongoing improvement.

  • Integrate AI capabilities and analytical services with the research and engineering team, helping clinicians review results and supporting evidence.

  • Develop maintainable APIs, data models and access controls to support secure handling of clinical information.

  • Improve software quality through automated testing, code review and documentation, with attention to usability and performance.

  • Share responsibility for deployment, monitoring and production troubleshooting, helping the team operate the product reliably.

  • Contribute to architecture and product priorities, and work across disciplines as the needs of the product and team evolve.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Typically 5+ years in professional software engineering, with personal responsibility for shipping and operating production systems. Equivalent demonstrated experience will be considered.

  • Strong full-stack development skills across modern web interfaces, backend services, APIs and databases, with the ability to move between layers to solve problems.

  • Experience translating complex information into clear user-facing workflows and improving a product through direct user feedback.

  • Sound judgement around data modelling, asynchronous processing, application state, API contracts, security and performance.

  • Practical experience with automated testing, Git, code review, deployment and monitoring, including investigating failures through logs and other operational evidence.

  • Ability to integrate AI or analytical services, supported by relevant experience or demonstrated ability to learn unfamiliar technical systems.

  • Comfort with evolving responsibilities, on-site work in Newmarket, Auckland, and visits to collaborating hospital sites when required.

  • Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Healthcare software, clinical workflows or sensitive-data applications.

  • Interactive visualisation, biomedical signals or large time-series datasets.

  • Agent integration, evidence traceability or interfaces for reviewing AI-generated content.

  • Cloud infrastructure, containerisation, CI/CD or reliability improvements in a small team.

Working With Us

You will shape the clinician experience and contribute to technical decisions alongside our Technical Lead, researchers and clinical collaborators.

A permanent appointment may be considered after the fixed term, subject to performance, company milestones and mutual agreement. Participation in an ESOP may be considered upon permanent appointment, subject to plan approval and separately agreed allocation and vesting terms.

Location and Work Eligibility

Applicants MUST already hold New Zealand work rights permitting employment in this role. Visa sponsorship is not available. You must be based in Auckland or able to relocate before starting, for on-site work in Newmarket.

Please apply for ONE position only that best matches your skills and experience. Your application will also be considered for other suitable roles.
